Typically in the course of a massage session, several massage modalities are used, including Swedish, Deep Tissue, Neuromuscular Therapy, Trigger Point Therapy, Myofascial Release and Positional Release, unless otherwise specified. A description of each of the massage modalities we offer is shown below to help you to understand why we may or may not use each in a session.
|
* Swedish Massage: A type of massage using long strokes, kneading and friction techniques on the more superficial muscles; intended to induce relaxation, relieve stress and offer a sense of well-being. This is the base modality for most massage sessions. 1 Hour Session $60 1 1/2 Hour Session $85
* Deep Tissue Massage: A type of massage that releases the chronic patterns of tension in the body through slow strokes and deep finger pressure on the contracted areas. Also called "deep tissue" because of focus on the deeper layers of muscle tissue.
1 Hour Session $65 1 1/2 Hour Session $90
* Therapeutic Massage: A type of massage that utilizes a variety of therapeutic modalities to reduce pain and chronic tention. This type of session may include myofascial release, neuromuscular massage, positional release, trigger point therapy and/or deep tissue massage. 1 Hour Session $65 1 1/2 Hour Session $90
* Integrative Massage: A type of massage that incorporates a variety of massage modalities to achieve a desired result. Most of our integrative sessions are based in Swedish massage with Therapeutic massage used for specific areas of tension.
1 Hour Session $65 1 1/2 Hour Session $90
* Myofascial Release: A form of bodywork that is manipulative in nature and seeks to rebalance the body by releasing tension in the fascia. Long, stretching strokes are utilized to release muscular tension; typically incorporated into Therapeutic and/or Integrative Massage sessions.
* Trigger Point Therapy: A therapy that applies concentrated finger pressure to "trigger points" (painful irritated areas in muscles) to break cycles of spasm and pain. Another therapy that may be incorporated into Therapeutic and/or Integrative Massage sessions.

* Magmassage: Magmassage is a form of therapeutic massage therapy that incorporates the use of lotion infused with pure magnesium oil. Magnesium is a mineral that our body utilizes in over 300 biochemical processes, and as such, many of us don't have sufficient stores. Research has shown that magnesium is very effective in reducing or eliminating headaches, fibromyalgia, arthritis, anxiety, depression, asthma, diabetes, chronic muscle tension and more, and that it is most easily assimilated by our bodies when applied transdermally, where it is absorbed through the skin.
1/2 Hour Session $40 1 Hour Session $65
* Pregnancy or Pre-Natal Massage: Pregnancy Massage is very similar to a regular Swedish/Integrative massage, but it focuses on the special needs that arise during pregnancy as well as relieving the pains that are associated with pregnancy, such as back aches, swelling, bloating and leg cramps. Prenatal massage is also beneficial in relieving stress and anxiety during this time.
1 Hour Session $75 1 1/2 Hour Session $100
* Hot Stone Massage: Stone massage is a form of bodywork that involves the application of heated or cooled stones (thermotherapy) to the body during deep tissue massage. The heated stones are beneficial as they relax and soften the muscles prior to, or during, massage, enabling the therapist to work more deeply with minimal discomfort to the client.
1 Hour Session $75 1 1/2 Hour Session $100
* Pediatric Massage: Research has shown that massage can be beneficial for children of all ages, noteably helping to improve behavior, muscle tone and sensory integration. For the comfort of the child, we do request that a parent be present while their child is receiving bodywork.
