Massage for Life Program

At Touchstone Bodyworks, we believe that massage and bodywork services should be priced so that those who need the services, can afford them. With this in mind, we have created our Massage for Life program.

As many of the aches and pains we address with massage and bodywork were created over a period of time, we sometimes find that it also takes a period of time to bring the body back to balance and out of the pain cycle. Our Massage for Life program offers reduced rates, making more frequent sessions more affordable. No long-term contracts are required, although we do ask for a one month minimum commitment to your sessions for these special rates to apply.

Typically in the course of a massage session, several massage modalities are used, including Swedish, Deep Tissue, Neuromuscular Therapy, Trigger Point Therapy, Myofascial Release and Positional Release, unless otherwise specified. A description of each of the massage modalities we offer is shown below to help you to understand why we may or may not use each in a session.

* Swedish Massage: A type of massage using long strokes, kneading and friction techniques on the more superficial muscles; intended to induce relaxation, relieve stress and offer a sense of well-being.

* Deep Tissue Massage: A type of massage that releases the chronic patterns of tension in the body through slow strokes and deep finger pressure on the contracted areas. It is also called deep tissue because it focuses on the deeper layers of muscle tissue.

* Myofascial Release: A form of bodywork that is manipulative in nature and seeks to rebalance the body by releasing tension in the fascia. Long, stretching strokes are utilized to release muscular tension; typically incorporated into Swedish or Deep Tissue Massage sessions.

* Trigger Point Therapy: A therapy that applies concentrated finger pressure to "trigger points" (painful irritated areas in muscles) to break cycles of spasm and pain. Another therapy that is usually incorporated into Swedish or Deep Tissue Massage sessions.

* Pregnancy Massage: Prenatal, or Pregnancy, Massage is very similar to a regular Swedish/Deep Tissue massage, but it focuses on the special needs that arise during pregnancy as well as relieving the pains that are associated with pregnancy, such as back aches, swelling, bloating and leg cramps. Prenatal massage is also beneficial in relieving stress and anxiety during pregnancy.

* Sports Massage: A form of massage intended to condition an athlete's muscles in order to reduce the likelihood of injury; also used to remove metabolic waste built up in the muscles after exertion. Sports massage is also helpful during rehabilitation from injury, minimizing scar-tissue formation and decreasing the risk of re-injury to the area.

* Reflexology: A form of massage using compression strokes on the feet; based around a system of points in (the hands and) feet thought to correspond, or "reflex," to all areas of the body. 45 Minute Session $40

* Aromatherapy: The use of essential oils (extracts or essences) from flowers, herbs, and trees to promote health and well-being. Can be used during a massage or at other times. Additional $5 per Session

* Hot Stone Massage: Stone massage is a form of bodywork that involves the application of heated or cooled stones (thermotherapy) to the body during deep tissue massage. The heated stones are beneficial as they relax and soften the muscles prior to, or during, massage, enabling the therapist to work more deeply with minimal discomfort to the client. 1 Hour Session $70

* Corporate Onsite Massage: We offer several corporate programs to fit your company's needs. Please see our Onsite page for more information.

* Home Spa Parties: Relaxation and fun brought to you in your own home! Serving groups of 4-8 people, we offer chair massage, facials, foot and hand services, angel readings and more! Please see our Spa Parties page for more information and pricing.
