"My name is Rachael and I'm a massage therapist here at Touchstone Bodyworks in Gray. I am a free sprit whom loves to laugh and enjoy movement.
Becoming a massage therapist has always been a dream of mine. I think it all started when every summer I would visit my cousin in Cape Cod on vacation. She would always ask for her feet or back rubbed and how good she felt after.
The plan of becoming a massage therapist lingered off toward the end of my senior year of high school. Everyone was going to college and I wanted to also. So, I signed up at SMCC in South Portland, ME for business. It was great! I was meeting new people, getting an education and having fun. I was doing the "normal" thing people at that point in the lives do.
A couple years into it, I was not so interested in the loads of paperwork, lectures or presentations that were required of us. That's when I took a break to figure out what I wanted to do. Time passed and it was a year and a half later. I needed to do something. Well, I always had massage on my mind, so I checked out schools, got some info and made my final decision to go to Spa Tech Institute, in Westbrook, Maine. There were struggles along the way, but 6 months later I made it and graduated with a certificate in massage therapy.
I found Touchstone Bodyworks on my search for my first real professional massage therapist job. There was a sign out in the middle of Gray Center. I thought how perfect it would be to live the next town over and how little it would be to get there.
Thank goodness for technology these days! I googled the company and on a whim, emailed Tammy tos ee if there was any chance of employment. Oh yes! It was my lucky day, she was just thinking about hiring. I had the meet and greet and the interview. Lo and behold, I'm officially part of Touchstone Bodyworks!"
